World Farm Animals Day Appeal

Help Us Put Vegetarian Starter Kit Stands on Streets of Pittsburgh!
October 2nd, Gandhi's birthday, is World Farm Animals Day.  This day is set aside every year in order to expose, mourn, and memorialize the unnecessary suffering and slaughter of the more than 55 billion cows, pigs, turkeys, ducks, chickens, fish, and other sentient animals in the world's farms and slaughterhouses. Observances take place in all 50 U.S. states and two dozen other countries.

We want to do more to help call attention to the atrocities constantly suffered by animals in the meat, dairy, and egg industries not only on World Farm Animals Day but every day of the year.  Therefore, this year we've decided to honor World Farm Animals Day in a special way.  To raise awareness on a local level about the suffering and death of farmed animals, we are planning on putting up newspaper boxes on the streets of Pittsburgh where people passing by can obtain free copies of vegetarian starter kits.  This way anyone who is seriously considering moving their diet in a more ethical direction or is even slightly curious can easily reach in and have a veg starter kit in their hands instantly.  These are already being used in Philadelphia, Minneapolis, and other cities and are a great outreach tool!  Click here to see a picture of the newspaper stands.

Want to see these stands on the streets of Pittsburgh?  We need your help to make this vision a reality!  We had to spend a lot of funds recently on important campaign-related expenses and some emergency animal rescues, and our budget is stretched very thin right now.  Each newspaper stand costs a little over $100, and this is an expense we unfortunately can't currently afford.  We're appealing to you to help us by sending a donation towards this important project!

In honor of World Farm Animals Day, please make a donation in the amount of anything you can afford towards the purchase of newspaper boxes so we can begin this project to set vegetarian starter kit stands up on Pittsburgh street corners.  Remember, the more donations we receive, the more newspaper boxes we can buy, and the more Pittsburgh neighborhoods we can cover!  You can make checks out to Voices For Animals of Western Pennsylvania and earmark them for "veg starter kit stands".  Please be aware that our mailing address has recently changed.  Send your check donations to:

Thank you in advance for all your help!
